Simple, Chic, and Modern

The limited edition cars and helicopter parked on the helipad of Izzy and Daniel Martin’s home is the first clue that the pair give new meaning to “grand opulence.” Izzy’s approach to decorating the home she shares with fiancé Daniel Martin and their myriad of pets is “simple, chic, and modern.” She states that while those three words could seem contradictory with their actual house she assures us that she renovated their penthouse with one goal in mind: simple and livable.

“I didn’t want a showroom,” Izzy states while Daniel nods his head in agreement. The fashion maven goes on to say, “Understated is beautiful to me. I tried to keep every room simple and sophisticated while still telling a story.”

Izzy’s fashion and industry trophies mixed with books and décor picked up from Daniel’s travels tell their many stories. The couple’s home even features presents they received during their past fall engagement party. Furniture throughout the home is comfortable and versatile. They also wanted pieces that could be easily cleaned given the amount of pets the couple owned with their latest edition being a dog named Ketty.

When the topic of the pink and purple kitchen came up Izzy immediately laughed. "I had nothing to do with it," Daniel chimes in as he gives a quick chuckle.

While every room is cohesive there are instances where you can clearly see whose vision the room mostly embodies. “Daniel, likes dark and rich colours so the living room and master bedroom are mainly his design aesthetic. You’ll see pops of colour and that will be my doing such as the yellow and orange pillow on the bed.”

Their most time consuming and hands on project was the master bathroom. Izzy states that shopping for bathroom furniture during the Limited Time Spa event was her favourite. For Daniel it meant hiring a 6 man crew to place the new freestanding stone tub and helping to lay down tile imported from Italy.

Izzy final words to would be decorators? "Everyone is different but as long as you love your decor, that's all that matters."
