This was actually the first guide I ever read about engagement parties and I believe it's also one of the first, if not the first guide to come out after engagement parties were announced. 
 
 
This guide I think so far is the best in terms of being very detailed especially since PBG goes into exactly how much everything will cost. River's guide is great as an overview to get your feet wet.

My Lady is now engaged! I have started planning my engagement party and am writing a step-by-step guide. Below are links to my guide along with engagement guides from other Ladies.                                                                   WAIT! How do I get invited?

 

I guess we do need to start with that question before delving into anything else right? Visit the Lady's profile page who is throwing the party. Read her About Me section and see if she mentions anything about her party and guest limitations. Also check her comment section for this detail as well. Here are some Dos and Donts. 

 

DO: Send a PM for an invite, especially if the Lady request that you do so. 

DON'T: Send multiple PMs.

 

DO: Be polite in your message.

DON'T: Forget to congratulate them on their engagement party. 

 

DO: Make note of the party start time and date.

DON'T: Accept an invite if you won't be able to make it. 

DO: Send a PM to your host advising that you will be late or won't make it so that your host can plan accordingly.

 

DO: Respect a host's wishes and guests limitations when they state they are only inviting friends and/or only have room for 50 guests.

DON'T: Think you're the exception to the rule. 

 

DO: Understand that if you're level 15 and below that your odds of being invited are slim to none.

DON'T: Feel bad about it. 

 

NOW ON TO THE RULES FOR ATTENDANCE!

 

  • Because it can't be stressed enough please, please, please change your settings!

  • Doing a mission more than once will NOT get you a bigger reward. Only do a mission more than once if the hosts allows you to do so and it's apparent that anyone who wanted to participate did so. 

  • Follow the host's dresscode. I find it useful to copy and paste the invitation, especially if there are different dresscodes required throughout the party. 

  • Don't be rude! Seriously, just don't. You will get placed on the Wall of Shame. Lists of names of bad guests are being passed around and will continue to be passed around. Also, hosts can now kick guests out for being rude.

  • Speaking of being rude... Not following directions is also rude. For example, if the host asks for photo requests to be sent via PM, then send them via PM. Only send a second PM if more than 2 hours has passed since your request. Please, keep in mind that your host is busy so be respectful with the second request. 

  • Do you know what's super rude? Not writing in English, especially if the host and the majority of the guests speak English. This is International Lady Popular. You wouldn't dream of speaking English let alone any other language in the French version, for example so don't do it here. That's another way to get yourself on the "List."

  • Don't overpower chat with spam and topics usually considered controversial such as politics and religion. 

  • Don't ask for votes or solicit members for your club. It's tacky and the former is against the rules anyway.

  • See bullet point number 1 from the Rules for Attendance because it can't be said enough.

  • Have a supermodel ready. Make sure when you search for the supermodel to do so with NO activated popularity bonuses including a car bonus. You want to find a supermodel at level 0 or 1. Also, it'll make it easier to challenge her and win BUT you will need to still activate at least two bonuses prior to duelling her when the mission pops up. 

  • Have a photosession with 100% chance prepared. 

  • Have around 20-40 emeralds to purchase a gift. The cheapest gifts are 11 emeralds and are devotion items. Anything you buy for the host will also be placed in your inventory. You can only purchase an item once across ALL engagement parties unless it's a furniture item. Furniture items can be purchased twice but the second and subsequent purchases will not provide you with Creativity fashion points. If you have your heart set on a gift then buy it quickly because some of them go fast!

  • You can only buy devotion items for pets that you have unlocked and bought.

  • Have around 3-5k in your bank in order to participate in the buying missions. 

  • Come to the party with full energy. Every once in a while during a slow mission challenge someone for some extra cash. Don't be a vulture*. See FAQs for the definition of vulture. 

  • Do NOT do all of your lucky cards. Save at least one. It doesn't have to be a full deck just one card is needed. 

  • Do NOT go on dates with your boyfriend/fiance as the price will increase with each date. 

  • Do NOT do any of the mini-games since only the first win for the day will count towards the mission. 

  • Have a timer or your cell phone ready to keep track of the bonuses that you can receive every 15 minutes.

  • Set up and rename your browser tabs.

  • For Chrome browser I use the RenameTab add-on. This is what my browser looks like when I am ready for an engagement party:

Your tabs can be set up differently if you wish, of course. I've placed the missions that go the quickest closer to the main pinned tab. The pinned tab is where your party screen will be. FYI, you can also rename and pin tabs in Firefox. Just look through the extension store for something like the one I have for Chrome. I don't use any other browser so I'm not sure about what options may be available for them. 

PLAY XX DUELS ON THE FASHION ARENA IN 1 HOUR!

 

The fashion arena is the place to prove your fashion skills. All guests have to play XX duels as a total.

 

Rewards: $5000 & 15 XP

Take a look at some apartments and rate the designer skills of their owners. All guests have to give XX votes for ladies' apartments as a total!

While you're at a party, your man would probably miss you. Send him a gift, so he won't feel abandoned. All guests have to give a total of XX gifts to their loved ones.

Are you disappointed when your photo session has no success and you don't get paid? Get some camera packages to increase your chances to succeed! All guests have to buy a total of XX camera packages to complete the mission.

Finding a supermodel is not an easy task but we all know that models spend a lot of their time at the gyms. Get a gym card to increase you chance of meeting a model. All guests at the party have to buy a total of XX gym card packages to complete the mission.

Wherever you see XX this would correspond to the amount of guests invited to the party. For instance, if the host invited 396 guests then 396 duels would need to be completed. This number can fluctuate as the party progresses since the host has the option to kick out guests.
